Getting Registered to Be a BAS Agent

If you are a bookkeeper, as of 1 March 2010, you can only provide BAS services if you have notified the Tax Practitioners Board that you are registering with them, and fill out the form.  You can still function as a bookkeeper without being a registered BAS agent, as long as you do not provide any BAS services.  You will also need to have a Certificate IV in Financial Services to qualify to register to become a BAS agent.  It may have been something that you did prior to the change in the law, and if you are experienced in it, you should get registered.
