Cash-Only Confusion
Like many modern people, I’ve grown used to the convenience of debit and credit cards and rarely carry more than a few dollars. So, when my friend, Melissa, made arrangements for our vacation to a remote tropical island, I packed my summer clothes and about five charge cards. Imagine my surprise when I got off the plane and went to the local café for lunch. No one took credit cards! But even islands have banks so I managed to make some calls (I did have my cell phone with me) and get the best cash advance. The lesson I learned when traveling: Cash – don’t leave home without it.
